Want to make your very own garden out of a wooden pallet for your South Philly home? Then join us at this FREE workshop! A pallet garden is the perfect solution for your urban garden.
We’ll receive a brief intro to the gardens at South Philly High School, the different methods of growing they experiment with, an overview of pallet gardening, and walk-through of pallet garden installation. Then, you’ll break into groups to make a pallet garden, receive care instructions, and enjoy some potluck snacks together.
All materials and seeds are completely free! What’s stopping you from creating a beautiful pallet garden of your own?

You can select to either meet at the Fountain at East Passyunk Ave and Tasker Street at 11am to travel together via car or bike, or meet at Mariposa at 4824 Baltimore Ave at noon.
After meeting from a representative of this awesome community-owned grocery store, we’ll buy lunch and then visit Little Baby’s Ice Cream at their new Cedar Park location.

The 2013 Spring General Membership meeting will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 3:30 – 6 p.m. in the Community Room at PEP (Programs Employing People) located at 1200 South Broad Street (Broad & Federal Streets), Philadelphia, PA 19146.
The agenda for the meeting can be found HERE. Apart from getting updates from the various committees (including real estate site selection!), elections for six board members will occur at the meeting. You can see the list of nominees and get other voting information HERE.

Celebrate the Co-op and the success of our 75 day membership drive that began February 15. Find out how many members we’ve gained (hint: it’s more than our goal of 75) and meet fellow member-owners.
Admission of $7.50 goes to the Co-op’s efforts to open our community-owned grocery store. You’ll receive a wristband for drink specials from Fountain Porter, as well as a raffle ticket toward door prizes from many our great local businesses. Plus, you’ll receive one additional FREE raffle ticket for each member you’ve referred during the 75 in 75 campaign!

There are still some tickets left for the Eat & Greet at Miss Rachel’s Pantry on April 17th.
This is a great opportunity to meet other co-op members and learn more about our efforts to bring a community based grocery store to the South Philly area. Plus, there will be amazing vegan tapas from Miss Rachel’s.
Reserve your tickets at our ticket leap site. The cost is $10 for adults and $8 for children (10 and under). Ticket sales go directly to Miss Rachel to pay for the cost of food.

Come learn how to pickle, ferment and otherwise agitate your friendly kitchen ingredients into new and delicious food items. Join us Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association and Town Watch Center, 1729 S. 11th St. We’ll check out how to make sourdough bread, pickles and yogurt – including tasting samples of these items made by our instructor, the fabulous Amanda Feifer of Phickle.com, in her own South Philly home. This is a ticketed event.
Amanda promises that we will not die from eating ferments, and that they are fun and simple to make. No special equipment required.
Ready to make some at home? We have 15 take home culture tickets at $25 for Co-op members, $30 for non-members.
Just want to learn more? We have 10 observer tickets at $15.00
